Beacon Hill Bistro

Last Sunday we headed to the airport sans passports for our kiddies. Why I thought we could take them to Mexico with only their birth certificates in hand I will never understand. After being turned away from the US Air desk we realized we needed to turn this disastrous day around, and so we decided to treat ourselves to a truly special family time. After dropping our bags at home and drying some tears, we headed over to the Beacon HIll Bistro for a yummy breakfast.
Everyone got to have their favorite..and then we went to see "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" which was a riot.
Needless to say, we indeed did make it to Mexico on Monday afternoon thanks to a miraculous 2 hour turnaround time at the passport office. Thank you kindly Boston Passport Agency!

Puerto Morelos

My family and i just got back from the Mexican Riviera (Hence the reason for my absence from the blog for the past week!)
We all had a wonderful time soaking up some sun, playing together on the beach, reading bad literature, and checking out the life aquatic at Xel Ha. BUT! the highlight of the vacation for me had to be visiting the quaint seaside village of Puerto Morelos, where we ate the local fare, felt the groovy vibe, and picked up some great items at the artisan market.

La Petita..an amazing spot for delicious fish, and mariachis!

the town square with its charming playground had children in it having fun with their families until around 9pm.

Ames Hotel

Erica was staying at the ultra new and swanky Ames Hotel in the heart of Boston's financial district, and so after our visit to Front, we walked over. Although the place was hard to spot..no signage..you knew once you were inside that you were in a Morgans Hotel space. The hipster quotient is quite high at the Ames, and therefore slightly intimidating, but most of all I found the styling combination of ultra mod meets Ethan Allen quite curious.

a visit to FRONT

This week my darling friend erica (of the e list fame) came to visit me, and we had the best time running around town like girl touristas..even though we are both natives. after a yummy lunch at sportello..erica had some delish orecchiette..one of the first stops on our tour was with Michelle Yeeles from Bob's Your Uncle at her Ft. Point shop Front. BYU is a true local team of talent, and i always love stopping to look at all their new stuff. the yiddish luggage tags below are a particular fave.

new loafers

generally speaking, Talbots is really not my thing. but in my mind, there is nothing like a new pair of loafers in a fun color, and these in a patent version of that ubiquitous vermillion shade are right on. who knew?

Oscar round up

i always try to watch the oscars for the fashion and the glamour, and for the just plain old fun. this year was no exception, and so i thought i would share some thoughts.
sandra looked great..right?? as though she was thinking.."this is my g-d night, and by golly i am going to look the part." i love that the fashion hawks said she wore that dress so she would look good with a statue.
i know people thought j-lo was a fashion do..but i didn't get it..very side pony tail to me.

i could not make up my mind about sarah jessica in that chanel number. one second i hated and the next loved. it had a very columnar grecian jackie-vibe. she looked pretty tired tho. hey, and what about senor broderick? he looks like he'd rather be with his girlfriend.
i did not get to see this amazing dress on charlize..but it sure is an attention grabber..huh?

cameron always claims that she just "threw something on". ha ha. i think her thing is that she's a nature gal. uhhh..ok.

i can't get enough of meryl..but i think this look is shlumpy. right. i absolutely loved her in julie and julia. delicious.

my booth at NYGSHEW

i didn't share this with anyone yet, but we were looking so great at the new york gift show last month, and i thought gaw'rdarnit i ought to show everyone our booth at the really big shew! the exeter links cylinders were a smashing success.

breakfast dilemma

some days, i walk into flour bakery which is right down the street from the studio, and i just stare, and stare at those gooey sticky buns. what i see is a big X right over the display..as if the bun was yelling at me from the case. "just faggedahboutit rosenwald."
but then other days..i just go for it.
mmmmm.
